Hi, my name is Steph Rice, thanks for taking the time to discover a bit more about me. I guess I’ll start at the beginning where my own personal journey began.
It all began for me at an early age. I competed as a junior figure skater and swam for the British Heart Foundation on several occasions, so I was very fit and healthy at this stage, although none of it came naturally and I had to work twice as hard as the other kids. My nutrition was well balanced at this stage too, so I looked pretty lean!
As I travelled through my teens I found other areas to occupy my time and the physical activities & fitness fell by the way side. Once I left college and started working in the city I started to eat more, do less exercise and slowly but surely I gained weight and a large amount of body fat!
By this point I was working long hours sat at a desk and when I needed a energy boost I reached for a bar of chocolate; a can of sugar laden soda and a packet of crisps! If it gave me a sugar boost I consumed it, little did I realise at the time the effect it would eventually have on my poor body.
I got to a stage where I wasn’t too happy with the woman looking back at me in the mirror, she looked over weight, had dark rings under her eyes and had little or no energy. So I joined a gym, a very expensive gym which had all the latest equipment, bright lights and pumping music. This made me feel good for the first month and I’m pretty sure I went at least once a week, which then turned into once every two weeks until I stopped going all together, paying a large monthly fee for something I wasn’t even using! I must have been crazy.
The turning point came for me when I was reading an article in one of my many fitness magazines I’d started collecting. The article was about a woman who was in a similar situation to me, she decided one day that enough was enough, she wanted to put an end to the unhealthy and unhappy life she was leading, it was like I was reading about my own life (sounds crazy, I know). Once I had finished reading the article I sat back and started to reflect on my life, things had to change. From that moment on I made a promise to myself that I had to start looking after me!
This was when I first realized that I wanted to change my life so that I could help other women change their lives. I did some research on the best courses I could train in which would equip me with all round skills in fitness & nutrition and enrolled to become a Certified Personal Trainer in my spare time.
So now I was working a full time job, studying in my spare time (evening & weekends) and I quickly realised that I had made the right choice. In a very short space of time fitness & nutrition became my passion and Personal Training my vocation. Everything I learnt form my tutors, my peers; books; magazines I put to use on myself. I had very little time to actually get to a gym so I quit my membership and bought a few small pieces of equipment for my home and devised a workout plan for myself to do in a short amount of time. I overhauled my nutrition. Water; green tea were in and pretty much anything else was out! No more quick fix junk food for me, I switched to seeds; nuts; fruit and vegetables as snacks and cut down my portion sizes and ensured that I had 5 meals a day, including complex carbohydrates and protein with ever meal. Making these small changes meant that I was stabilizing my blood sugar throughout the day. So despite the fact that I was having to do more with working and studying I had continued energy throughout the day and so much more focus to carry out simple tasks that before seemed like major chores!
Once I’d qualified as a Personal Trainer & Nutrition Advisor I didn’t stop there. I continue to study further to continually improve on my knowledge & skills and as this is my passion I will never stop learning. It’s important to me to stay ahead so I can always offer my clients and audience the best programs, advice and guidance.
I have spent years discovering the reasons why women gain weight, become unmotivated and sabotage themselves on a regular basis. So now with every woman I help, I make sure that we work to improve not only her physical wellbeing, nutritional diet but equally if not more importantly her emotional health too!
Since graduating almost 10 years ago I have worked in some of the most prestigious Personal Training Studios in London. This gave me fantastic grounding to develop my skills further and from there I set out on my mission to help women change their lives around and gain the bodies, minds and lives they all deserve.
So now, I live in the middle of England surrounded by beautiful hills and countryside. I write regular articles on fitness and nutrition which are published in both magazines and online. I run a very successful offline Personal Training company which is now developing into an even more successful online business, which for me is amazing as I’m now able to help women from all over the world with their fat loss goals.
As you can see I have been on a journey myself, so now I dedicate my time to helping women from all walks of life, with all different needs discover the true path of their own journey. You don’t have to belong to a fancy gym to get the body you want and the health you deserve, all you need is to realize that YOU are worth making the effort for and start making the changes today.
Motivation is a force of support to help move you to action or propel you towards achieving one’s desired or intended goals! What’s your goal for today, tomorrow, the next day? Always remember to count YOU in your goals, take care of you, nourish your body with clean foods, strengthen your body with regular exercise, hydrate your body with natural fluids and relax your body with time out to breathe.
Thanks for taking the time to read about me and my personal journey.
Take a look around the rest of the sight and discover how I can help you with yours.
